Abstract

Objective: To study clinic employees’ knowledge, attitude, and practice onsegregation of infectious waste in clinics located in Nonthaburi province.Methods: In this descriptive correlational study, studied population was 102clinic employees in Amphoe Pakkret, Nonthaburi province. Instrumentswere self-administered questionnaire and structured observation. The datawere analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation andSpearman ranked correlation. Results: Knowledge, attitude and practicescores regarding infectious waste segregation were at a high level. Bothknowledge and attitude were significantly positively correlated with practiceon infectious waste segregation in clinics (r = 0.369, P < 0.001 and r =0.368, P < 0.001, respectively). Knowledge and attitude were alsopositively correlated (r = 0.492, P < 0.001). Conclusions: Amongemployees working in clinics in Nonthaburi, knowledge and attitude weresignificantly positively correlated with practice on infectious wastesegregation. There should be a measure to educate and enhanceawareness regarding infectious waste segregation to improve infectiouswaste management system in Nonthaburi province.Keywords: knowledge, attitude, segregation, infectious waste
