Liquisolid Systems in Pharmaceutical Applications

Abstract

Liquisolid technique is a new and promising method that can improve thedissolution rate of water insoluble drugs. The major ingredients of liquisolidsystems are the suitable non-volatile liquid vehicles which improve solubilityof drug, carrier materials or fillers which present adsorption ability andcoating materials which have adsorption ability and act as glidant. Theliquisolid powder should exhibit acceptably flowing and compressiblepowders for tablet manufacturing. It has been speculated that liquisolidsystems exhibit enhanced release profiles of poorly water soluble drugs,resulting in improving their bioavailability.
