Abstract

Objective: To explore factors affecting early childhood health management of childcare teachers in child development centers. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 216 childcare teachers in child development centers proportional to the number of the centers in each province using simple random sampling in Nakhon Nayok, Rayong, and Kanchanaburi provinces from August to November 2021. Data was collected using a questionnaire that included childcare teachers, personal information, childhood health management, and related factors. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression were employed for data analyses. Results: It was found that the sample group had the highest level of early childhood health management overall (M = 111.75, SD = 10.25), self-development factors in terms of work skills and social support in terms of interaction and cooperation can predict early childhood health management by 39.8% (R2 = 0.398, P-value < 0.001). The factors with the highest affecting power were self-improvement in performance skills (β = 0.465, P-value < 0.001), and social support for interaction and cooperation, respectively (β = 0.229, P-value < 0.001). Conclusion: Performance skills and social support in interaction and cooperation factors were important in childcare teachers' early childhood health management in the centers. Nurses play a significant role in promoting childcare teachers to have health management skills and supporting related community organizations to participate in child development centers so the children are physically and mentally healthy. Keywords: early childhood; health management; childcare teacher; child development center
