Effects of Oral Health Literacy Promotion Program in Providing Knowledge to the People on the Role of Village Health Volunteers

Abstract

วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อเปรียบเทียบระดับความรอบรู้ด้านสุขภาพช่องปากและบทบาทการให้ความรู้แก่ประชาชนของอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขประจำหมู่บ้าน (อสม.) ก่อนและหลังเข้าร่วมโปรแกรมส่งเสริมความรอบรู้ด้านสุขภาพช่องปาก วิธีการศึกษา: การวิจัยกึ่งทดลองแบบหนึ่งกลุ่มวัดผลก่อนและหลัง ดำเนินการในอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขประจำหมู่บ้าน เขตบริการโรงพยาบาลป่าพะยอม จังหวัดพัทลุง จำนวน 93 คน จาก 7 หมู่บ้าน โปรแกรมส่งเสริมความรอบรู้ด้านสุขภาพช่องปากที่ผู้วิจัยพัฒนาขึ้นประกอบด้วย กิจกรรมสร้างแรงจูงใจและทัศนคติเชิงบวก การเสริมสร้างความรู้พื้นฐานด้านสุขภาพช่องปาก และการฝึกทักษะการสื่อสารเพื่อถ่ายทอดความรู้ เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยใช้แบบสอบถามก่อนและหลังเข้าร่วมโปรแกรม วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยสถิติเชิงพรรณนาและสถิติทดสอบค่าทีแบบจับคู่ (Paired t-test) ผลการวิจัย: หลังเข้าร่วมโปรแกรม อสม. มีคะแนนเฉลี่ยความรอบรู้ด้านสุขภาพช่องปาก ทักษะการส่งเสริมสุขภาพช่องปาก และพฤติกรรมการถ่ายทอดความรู้สูงกว่าก่อนเข้าร่วมโปรแกรมอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p < .001) โดยคะแนนความรอบรู้ด้านสุขภาพช่องปากเพิ่มจาก 2.48 เป็น 2.94 คะแนน ทักษะการส่งเสริมสุขภาพช่องปากเพิ่มจาก 2.03 เป็น 2.48 คะแนน และพฤติกรรมการถ่ายทอดความรู้เพิ่มจาก 2.06 เป็น 2.48 คะแนน สรุปผลการวิจัย: โปรแกรมส่งเสริมความรอบรู้ด้านสุขภาพช่องปากมีความสัมพันธ์กับการเพิ่มขึ้นของระดับความรอบรู้ ทักษะการส่งเสริมสุขภาพช่องปาก และพฤติกรรมการถ่ายทอดความรู้ของอสม. ผลการศึกษาชี้ให้เห็นแนวโน้มว่าโปรแกรมดังกล่าวสามารถนำไปใช้เป็นแนวทางในการพัฒนาศักยภาพอสม. เพื่อสนับสนุนการดำเนินงานส่งเสริมสุขภาพช่องปากในระดับชุมชนได้ /Objective: To compare the level of oral health literacy and the role of community health volunteers in educating the public before and after participating in an oral health literacy promotion program. Methods: A quasi-experimental, one-group pre- and post-test design was conducted among 93 village health volunteers from 7 villages in the service area of Pa Phayom Hospital, Phatthalung Province. The researcher-developed oral health literacy promotion program consisted of activities to build motivation and positive attitudes, reinforce basic oral health knowledge, and train communication skills for knowledge dissemination. Data were collected using pre- and post-program questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests. Results: After participating in the program, community health volunteers (CHVs) had significantly higher average scores in oral health literacy, oral health promotion skills, and knowledge transfer behavior compared to before participating in the program (p < .001). Oral health literacy scores increased from 2.48 to 2.94, oral health promotion skills increased from 2.03 to 2.48, and knowledge transfer behavior increased from 2.06 to 2.48. Conclusion: Oral health literacy promotion programs are associated with increased levels of oral health literacy, oral health promotion skills, and knowledge transfer behaviors among community health volunteers (CHVs). The study results suggest that such programs can be used as a guideline for capacity building among CHVs to support community-level oral health promotion initiatives.
