การพัฒนากระดาษต้านการดูดซึมน้ำโดยการผสมด้วยยางธรรมชาติ Developing of Water Resistant Paper by the Addition of Natural Rubber

Abstract

งานวิจัยนี้แสดงให้เห็นความเป็นไปได้ในการพัฒนาคุณสมบัติทางด้านการต้านการดูดซึมน้ำของกระดาษ  โดยการผสมยางธรรมชาติในรูปน้ำยางข้นในสัดส่วนของเปอร์เซ็นต์น้ำหนักแห้งที่แตกต่างกันลงในเยื่อกระดาษรีไซเคิลโดยพบว่าสามารถเตรียมแผ่นกระดาษที่มีค่าน้ำหนักมาตรฐาน ความหนา และความหนาแน่นเสมือน ในระดับที่ใกล้เคียงกันได้แม้จะมีสัดส่วนของกระดาษและยางที่แตกต่างกัน   จากนั้นเมื่อนำแผ่นกระดาษตัวอย่างไปทดสอบคุณสมบัติการต้านทานน้ำพบว่ากระดาษผสมยางธรรมชาติสามารถต้านทานน้ำได้ดีขึ้น กล่าวคือกระดาษมีค่าการดูดซึมน้ำที่ลดลงและพื้นผิวกระดาษมีความต้านทานน้ำเพิ่มสูงขึ้น(จากการที่ค่ามุมสัมผัสของหยดน้ำบนพื้นผิวกระดาษเพิ่มขึ้น) ตามปริมาณยางธรรมชาติที่เพิ่มขึ้นในเนื้อกระดาษ  นอกจากนั้นยังพบว่ากระดาษผสมยางธรรมชาติมีค่าความต้านทานต่อแรงดึงสูงขึ้นกว่ากระดาษที่ไม่ผสมยางThis research illustrates the possibility of developingof water resistant paper by adding of natural rubber (concentrated latex) withdifferent ratios of dry weight basis (%) into recycled paper pulp.  The values of grammage, caliper and apparentdensity of the sample sheets were found at about the same levels even thoughthe ratios of paper pulp and rubber in each sample were varied.  The values of water absorption and contactangles were then monitored to evaluate the improvement of water resistanceproperties.  It was found that sampleswith higher amounts of natural rubber revealed better results, lower levels ofwater absorption and greater hydrophobicity (higher contact angle values) at theinterfaces.  Additionally, natural rubberadded samples displayed higher tensile strength than the bared one.
