Abstract

The purposes of this research were (1) to develop instructional activities to enhancestatistical reasoning abilities through problem-solving among Matthayomsuksa III students in anEnrichment Science Classroom with an efficiency according to a criterion of 60/60, (2) to studythe effects on the statistical reasoning of students; and (3) to study the effects on studentperformances in terms of statistical reasoning.The results of this study were as follows: (1) the efficiency of the developedinstructional activities enhancing statistical reasoning abilities among Matthayomsuksa IIIstudents in the Enrichment Science Classroom was higher than a criterion of 60/60, (2) Basedon their scores on the test and the tasks, it was found that the number of students who scoredhigher than sixty percent was more than sixty percent of the total number of students at a.05 level of significance, and (3) when students have gained their experience in statisticalreasoning abilities through problem-solving. They had higher ability to express problem-relatedinformation, describing various methods of data collection, and showing possible datapresentation patterns by creating tables, bar charts, or line graphs. Students also have improvedtheir ability to write a description, showing data analysis to find the answers with clearcomparisons, identifying trends from data or predictions that relied on statistical data withconsistency. Besides, they have gained ability to write a summary of the answers to the problemsin more accurate manner.
