Abstract

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a major health problem in Thai menaging, who are at high risk to develop prostate cancer. The incidence ratesof prostate cancer are increased every year in Asia. The epidemiologicalstudies showed that high intake of tomatoes and high blood level of thelycopene have been associated with a reduced risk of developing prostatecancer. At present, prostate disease patients focus on the lycopene-richtomatoes consumption and lycopene supplement moreover modernmedicine, because of the excellent effect in the prostate disease treatmentand no serious adverse events.Keywords: tomato, lycopene, benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate cancer
