Perceptions of the Cloth Making Women on Family Quality of Life and Satisfaction on Their Work: A Study at Udon Thani Province

Abstract

Objectives: To examine quality of life, family quality of life, satisfaction ontheir work and welfare, and the correlation between the family quality of lifeand the satisfaction, among cloth making women in Udon Thani province.Methods: In this descriptive research, the sample included women clothmaking women in Udon Thani province, selected by a simple randomsampling. The research tools included interview questionnaires concerningfamily quality of life (FQoL), and satisfaction of their work and welfare(SWW). The content validity was examined by 5 experts. The questionnairehad a high reliability (Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.89). The correlationbetween SWW and QFoL was examined using Pearson’s Product MomentCorrelation test. Results: Of 150 women (from 150 families) selected, theresults showed that the overall FQoL was at a moderate level: with mostdomains in moderate levels (physical, psychological and social supportdomains), and the domain of family function at good level. Most women(94.7%) had a moderate SWW and their SWW was significantly positivelycorrelated with FQoL (r = 0.367, P < 0.01). Conclusion: Cloth makingwomen in Udon Thani province had a moderate satisfaction on their workand welfare, and good overall family quality of life. Their satisfaction waspositively correlated with overall family quality of life.Key words: quality of life, family quality of life, satisfaction, cloth making,cloth making women
