Abstract

The objectives of this research were to analyze the process and outcomes of empowerment learning in the second year nurse students and to synthesize the empowering learning and teaching model. The research method was Research and Development (R & D) that conducted learning experience by practicing in real situation of academic service of the innovation of community-based health promotion project. The participants were the second year nurse students who studied in NCN 262 Health promotion in academic year 2012 that divided to 12 groups in order to operate health promotion programs in the community. The content analysis of qualitative method was used to analyze data.The results found that the empowering learning and teaching that applied by small peer group, practiced in real situation, and knowledge sharing could increase both knowledge and clearly understanding in empowerment concept. Furthermore, the outcomes of empowerment process found that nurse students have become self -esteem and self -efficacy both self and peer group. The major success factors of empowering learning were student center focused, power of group learning, instructor roles, and networking learning.
