Abstract

The purposes of this research were to develop leisure education program for children in welfare institute, and to study effects of participation on the program. Samples participated in leisure education program were selected by purposive sampling: 30 upper elementary school students. The research design was One Group Pretest – Posttest Design. The research instruments included: 1) leisure education program for children in upper elementary school students; 2) leisure in self- awareness evaluation; 3) leisure involvement evaluation; and 4) needs in developing leisure skills structured interview form. The data were analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test.The results of this research were as follows :1. Experts evaluated leisure education program manual for children in upper elementary school students in welfare institute was in very good quality and the item-object congruence was in the range of 0.80 – 1.00.2. Leisure involvement scores in leisure education program of children in upper elementary school students in welfare institute were increased significantly both overall and each item at .05 Level.3. Self awareness in leisure scores of children in upper elementary school students in welfare institute were increased significantly both overall and each item at .05 Level.4. Learning outcomes and leisure skills of children in upper elementary school students in welfare institute were pass 80 percent of criteria.
