Abstract

Urinary incontinence is defined as involuntary leakage of urine influencing on health, quality of life and social participation. Urinary incontinence is very common and its prevalence is increased in elderly persons. Most of elderly persons are usually embarrassed and avoided discussion or consulting about urinary incontinence with health care providers then they usually delay seeking care. Despite of increasing evidence for effective treatment and care for urinary incontinence in the present day, elderly persons are frequently neither assessed nor treated. This article has an objective to critically discuss about the effective assessment and management of urinary incontinence in elderly persons for health care providers.
