THE EFFECTIVENESS OF A HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAM APPLYING GROUP PROCESS ON DENGUE HEMORRHAGIC FEVER PREVENTION AND CONTROL BEHAVIORS OF PUBLIC HEALTH VOLUNTEERS IN PHRA NAKHON SRI AYUTTHAYA PROVINCE
Abstract
This quasi-experimental research was designed to study the effectiveness of a healtheducation program applying group process on Dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention and controlbehaviors of public health volunteers in Phra Nakhon Sri Ayutthaya Province. The selected healthbehaviors consisted of knowledge of Dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention and control, attitude ofDengue hemorrhagic fever prevention and control and practice of Dengue hemorrhagic fever preventionand control.The samples were volunteers in Phra Nakhon Sri Ayutthaya District, Phra Nakhon Sri AyutthayaProvince. Thirty-five volunteers from Pakkran Subdistrict were selected as the experimental group andthirty-five volunteers from Hantra Subdistrict were selected as the control group. Those two subdistrictswere selected by purposive sampling.The data were collected by using questionnaires. Pre-test was made on the experimental groupone week before applying the program, then post-test was made two weeks after applying the program.The data were analyzed by using percentage distribution, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test(dependent), t-test (Independent) and ANCOVA method.The results were as follows :1. After using the health education program applying group process, the experimental grouphad significantly better knowledge, attitude and practice on Dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention andcontrol behaviors than before having the health education program at .05 level.2. After using the health education program applying group process, the experimental grouphad significantly better knowledge, attitude and practice on Dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention andcontrol behaviors than those without the health education program at .05 level.Downloads
