Abstract

The Purposes of this study were 1) to study leisure participation patterns of each generation.2) to study factors that affect on leisure participation patterns of each generation in Bangkok. 3) tostudy the relationship between generations and leisure participation patterns of people who live inBangkok. and 4) to compare attitudes and factors that affect on leisure participation patterns inBangkok. Samples of this study were 405 people in each generation who live in Bangkok. includinggeneration of baby boomers (up to 46 years old), generation X (34 -45 years old), and generation Y(16– 33 years old). They were selected by multi stage sampling including sample random sampling, quotasampling and stratified random sampling.The research instrument in this study was the questionnaire of leisure Participation Patternsof each generation in Bangkok. The validity of questionnaire was 0.6 – 1 by Index of Congruencemethod and reliability was 0.8 by Cronbarch alpha – coefficient. Data were analyzed by usingfrequency, percentage, mean, standard diviasion, chi-square, Carmer’s V coefficient, and leastsignificant difference (LSD) for multi comparisons the data. Finding were found that.1. The percentage of sample was classified according to the leisure participation patternsand generations home - based activity. The most home based activity pattern was watching television.The most creative pattern was sing a song and music. The most outdoor activity was meet andsocialized. The most sport and health related pattern was exercise.2. The attitude of samples showed that the most factors affect on leisure participationpatterns were safety, preference, transportation and body readiness, service and mind readinessrespectively.3. The relationship between each generation and leisure participation patterns in Bangkokindicated all of leisure participation patterns were statistical correlation significance at 0.54. LSD analysis showed that each generation had no different attitude in factors affected onleisure participation patterns.
