Abstract

Family Communication Patterns, Lifestyles, and Attachment Styles that Affect the Social Networking Behavior and Game Addiction Behavior among Thai Teenagers in Bangkok Metropolitan Area Abstract   This research aims to explore how lifestyle differences amongst Thai teenagers in the Bangkok Metropolitan area affect their self-perceived family communication patterns and self-reported attachment styles, to predict the Thai teenagers’ self-reported family communication patterns that affect their social networking behavior and game addiction behavior, and to explore the relationship between social networking behavior and their game addiction behavior amongst Thai teenagers. Questionnaires were distributed to four hundred Thai teenage participants, who were selected by using multi-stage sampling, including stratified random sampling, random sampling method, and convenience sampling. The means and standard deviation of the data were tabulated and analyzed by using the SPSS for Windows computer program, including Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) and Spearman Rank Correlation, with a statistical significance of 0.05. The results are as follows: 1) Thai teenagers in metropolitan Bangkok having different self-perceived family communication patterns and self-reported attachment styles will exhibit significantly different lifestyles. 2)  Thai teenagers in the Bangkok Metropolitan area engaging in different family communication patterns will exhibit significantly different game addition behavior. 3) Thai teenagers’ social networking behavior is positively correlated with their game addition behavior at the level of statistical significance.   Keywords: Lifestyle, Family Communication Patterns, Attachment Styles, Social Networking Behavior, Game addiction Behavior
