Abstract
Causal Relationship Model of Factors Influencing Glycemic Control Behavior among Monks with Type 2 Diabetes in the Upper Northern Region of ThailandAbstract This research aimed to study the factors influencing glycemic control behavior among monks with type 2 diabetes in the upper northern region of Thailand. The sample consisted of 380 monks with type 2 diabetes, who were randomly assigned by multistage sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and were analysed by LISREL. Results of this study showed that there were three factors influencing glycemic control behavior among monks with type 2 diabetes as follows: 1) perceived behavioral control, 2) attitudes toward to glycemic control behavior’s indirect effect on glycemic control behavior through intention (Total Effect= 0.51and 0.21 respectively) and 3) social support’s direct effect on glycemic control behavior among monks. (Direct Effect = 0.04). Research suggestions are to strengthen confidence in glycemic control, changing attitudes toward glycemic control behavior among monks, and encouraging people in the community to adopt appropriate buying and cooking of food to donate to the monks.
