Abstract
(Elderly’s Internet Usage for Health Information inBangkok Region)Abstract Thispaper aims to study the internet usage behavior of elderly for searching healthinformation. This research collected data from elderly age 60 and over, livingin Bangkok and it’s vicinity. Sample used in this study were 624. The findings showed that 1) 61.6 % ofrespondents were female. Most elderly were in 60-64 age group. Health problemmostly found among samples is diabetes. Elderly typically looked for health information from doctors. Doctor is the most credible source ofinformation. Most of the elderly used internet for 1-2 hours a time and acouple of times a week. They were satisfied with internet and responded thatthey used internet for current situation. 2) It was found that elderly mostlysearch for general information of disease and symptoms. 3) The results frommultiple regression analysis show that demographic factors could predict thefrequency of searching health information via internet at 7.4%, while thenumber of health problems, internet satisfaction and attitude to internet couldpredict numbers of health information types at 4.3 significantly.
