Abstract
This paper briefly reports a quasi-experimental research aimed at 1) finding the pervasive learning styles of the first year students in the course: Introduction to Psychology 2) determining the effectiveness of the 21st Century teaching styles 3) comparing the knowledge of the topic of “intelligence”, before and after studying 4) comparing the happiness from learning ‘intelligence”, before and after studying. The samples were 20 first year students in the course: Introduction to Psychology by simple random sampling. The instruments were an intellectual achievement test, and the questionnaire to measure the happiness from the 21st Century teaching models. To assess the quality of research instruments, the content validity, the discrimination and the reliability of the intelligence test were assessed by using the KR-20. The value stood at .77. The reliability of happiness questionnaire were measured by using Cronbach's Alpha. The value stood at .75. Finding the efficiency by a percentage not less than 80/80 before and after, and the comparison tests using paired samples t-test, the results showed that 1) Styles of learning found, descending from the most to the least, were kinesthetic, listening, looking or optical, and reading 2) the efficiency and the effectiveness of the 21st century teaching styles results at 78.20 and 80.77 respectively 3 ) the first year students studying in the class using the 21st Century teaching styles had higher achievement and happiness scores than ones before the experiment.Keywords: The 21stCentury Teaching Styles, intelligenceDownloads
