Abstract
This article studied and compared LIS students๛ self-assessment level and informationliteracy level for science and technology at Srinakharinwirot University, according to gender,year, grade of LIS 343, and GPA. The research also studied relationships between selfassessmentlevel and information literacy level. Eighty-eight LIS students Year 2, 3, and 4in the academic year 2006 were subjects of this study. Questionnaires and tests weredesigned to collect data which would be analyzed by SPSS for Windows. The t-test,F-test, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation were used to analyze the hypotheses. Theresults of the study showed as follows: (1) Self-assessment level of the students was at amoderate level. The ability of information usage was at a high level. Students๛ gender,year, grade of LIS and GPA did not influence their self-assessment, with a level of significanceat 0.05. (2) Information literacy level of the students was at a moderate level. Students’gender did not influence their information literacy at the 0.05 level of statistical significance.A relationship was found between grade of LIS 343 and information literacy level, with alevel of significance at 0.01. A relationship was found between year of study and informationliteracy level and between GPA and information literacy level, with a level of significanceat 0.001. (3) Self-assessment of the students was not related with their information literacylevel, with a level of significance at 0.05.Downloads
