Abstract

A course in Thai-Chinese interpreting is offered to fourth-year students of ThaiDepartment in Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. This course focuses on skillpractice; students are trained in interpreting skill in various areas: politics and internationalrelations, economics, education, medicine and public health, and science and technology.The mode of simultaneous interpreting is included in this course. Three teaching methodsof lecture, interpreting practice, and seminar are corroboratively used in teaching this course.Of these, student practice is deemed as the most important learning method. Videotapesand audiotapes are also employed to familiarize students with speeches in real situations.
