การจัดหลักสูตรการสอนภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาที่สองและภาษาต่างประเทศในโรงเรียนในสหรัฐอเมริกา แนวทางประยุกต์ใช้ในโรงเรียนในประเทศไทย
Abstract
This article mainly summarizes ESL and bilingual program models offered to studentswhose first language is not English, and also foreign language program models offered to nativespeakers of English in the U.S. Demographic changes due to a steady influx of immigrants intothe U.S. that have affected the No Child Left Behind Act are also briefly discussed. In additionto the changing immigration patterns, the U.S. is promoting to foreign language education to equipEnglish speaking students with foreign language competence. Accordingly, the U.S. has put anemphasis on teaching and learning foreign languages in schools. The last part of this articlediscusses the implication of the both the ESL and foreign language program models existent inthe U.S. Additional examples of foreign language education in non-English speaking countriesare given. The article ends with a discussion on how to apply existing models to structure Englishcurricula in Thai schooling systems.Downloads
