Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to analyze folk narratives for developing the ways of life in Sakon Nakhon Basin Community 2)to analyze the transmission of folk narratives wisdom for developing the ways of life in Sakon Nakhon Basin Community and 3)to present ways of transmitting folk narratives wisdom to develop the ways of life in Sakon Nakhon Basin Community. This was the qualitative research which studied on the related documents, field-work studies, in-depth interview, participant observation and attending panel discussion among experts who live in the Sakon Nakhon Basin. The results of the research was founded as followed: 1.The folk narratives’ wisdom derives from human’s belief in supernatural, religion, local history, local resources, ways of life, traditions, cultures, life and socialcustoms. 2.The transmission of folk narratives’ wisdom has been inherited from the previous days via oral literature, education and social activities such as social traditions, rituals, performances, social media, signs and tourism. 3. There were 5 means to transmit folk narratives and community development; 1) Policies have to be effective in order to create sustainability for folk narratives’ transmission and community development 2)Education institutions should set a curriculum containing the study of folk narratives 3)Information Center or Community Learning Base should be established with a long-term activity promoting 4)Transmission of folk narratives should be promoted via social networks 5)Sustainable local tourism should be supported. The important role of folk narratives is unifying the communes in Sakon Nakhon Basin who share the same root of culture and creating their cultural characteristics based on their beliefs, faith and traditions deriving from their ancestors.Keywords : Sakon Nakhon Basin, Narratives, Wisdom, Transmission, Development
