Abstract

Non-inferiority test has been used more frequently in clinical researchpaper. Concept and interpretation of non-inferiority test is different fromtraditional statistical test which tests whether new drug or treatment issuperior to standard drug/treatment, or placebo. Non-inferiority test aims todetermine whether new drug/treatment is not unacceptably less efficaciousthan an active control treatment already in use. This article aims to help theaudience understand basic concept and interpretation of non-inferiority testin clinical research paper. The interpretation on study outcomes betweengroupscomparison especially direction of non-inferiority test is explained,as well as non-inferiority margin.
