In this paper I discuss two competing sets of claims about new media art practice. The firstset celebrates and champions the new aesthetic possibilities afforded by digital technologies and argues that these enable new and ‘liberatory’ modes of spectatorship based on play, performance and participation. The second suggests that far from emancipating the spectator, new media art devalues genuine social interaction through an illusory participation in trivialised interactions. I conclude by suggesting that, given the increasing socio-cultural significanceof new media technologies, a dialectical synthesis of these positions is both desirable and possible. Keywords: New media, interaction, modes of spectatorship

The researchers collected Educational literatureabout the Theory of Music Therapy, Elementary of Music, Music Therapy Activity, Benefits ofMusic Therapy, Types of Music Therapy and Music Therapy Education in Thailand. There are tools usedby researchers to do experimental Music Therapy activities, interview the Music therapist, and analyzeresearch in Music Therapy. The results were as follows:There are 3 major characteristic in the use of music therapy: Music Therapy for medical and nursingactivities, Music therapy activities by volunteers and teaching music therapy. In the case of MusicTherapy for medical and nursing, music therapy can effectively relieve symptoms, especially mentalillnesses, which had very good results. More knowledge of music therapy will be released to the publicin the future.Music therapy activities are held by volunteers or researchers. Currently, there are many volunteermusic therapy groups that organize activities in hospitals or medical facilities. These volunteers shouldbe encouraged to organize music therapy activities. They should be given the right therapy knowledgeand awareness of the importance of music therapy to achieve maximum benefits of the activity. The third use of music therapy is the teaching of music therapy in Thailand. Teaching courses inmusic therapy is still at an early stage, such as specific learning disabilities for children. The course ofproducing an undergraduate music therapy program is still in its early stages. The field of music therapyoffered at an undergraduate level should be pushed to happen. This course requires the cooperation ofthe Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Arts. It is very important to integrate knowledge together. Inaddition, students should experience clinical practice and demonstrate the use of music therapy. Theyshould learn and process applied research to achieve the knowledge, understanding and expertise requiredin music therapy.Key words: music therapy, music therapy education, music for medicine.

AbstractThe mystic chord is very characteristic in Scriabin’s late works, in which he negates functional harmony. However, the sonority is found earlier in his tonal works, implied within the voice-leading as analtered dominant thirteenth chord. In the Poème, Op. 59, No. 1, and Poè me, Op. 71, No. 2, Scriabinvaries the chord by altering one or two pitches similar to the manner in which he alters the enricheddominants of his tonal works. This article demonstrates, through these two piano poems, variations ofthe mystic chord and proposed derivation from an expanded dominant harmony.Key words: mystic chord, Scriabin, expanded dominant harmony

AbstractThis historical qualitative research on music aimed to study the history and development of Westernballroom dance music in Thailand in order to find the relationship between the music and Thai societyand culture. The research revealed that ballroom dance music was a Western entertainment culture introducedto Thailand during the reign of King Rama III. According to the memo written in 1840 by aEuropean named Frederick Arthur Neale, there was a dinner party in Wang Na (the palace of the viceking)which European ballroom dance was included. Because of trading and diplomatic progression,Thailand and Western countries did develop their relationship. There were journeys between the twoterritories, brass bands created by foreign soldiers, and the invention of ballroom dance musical ensembleduring the reign of King Rama V. Up to the reign of King Rama VII, many Thai students pursuedtheir education in foreign countries of both Europe and America, which made them experienced more ofWestern music performances. Among these students was Luang Sukhumnaipradit who became the veryimportant person of ballroom dance music in Jazz style. These factors made great progression in ballroomdance music and resulted in the invention of big bands. There were many skillful musicians andsong writers such as Uea Sunthonsanan, Luan Khwantham and Kaew Achariyakul who became famousduring this period of time. Moreover, nightclubs and sound recording businesses were the importantstimulants to the popularity of ballroom dance music. There was also a Thai-style ballroom dance rhythmnamed Taloong Tempo. However, the development in technologies changed the taste of popular musicand decreased the importance of ballroom dance music. The ballroom dance music, nevertheless, is stillburied itself inside Thailand’s entertainment culture and moves together unceasingly with the culturalwaves.Key words: ballroom dance music, Thailand, history

Biometric Personal Authentic for Bio-Nonwoven Fashion : Biometric Personal (DNA ink) on Bacterial Cellulose Textile for Nonwoven Fashion Industry

Bio-nonwoven and Nanofiber fabrics of pure cellulose can be made from some bacteria such asAcetobacterxylinum. Bacterial cellulose fibers are very pure, 10 nm in diameter and about 0.5 micron long. The bacterial cellulose is similar to that of plant cellulose; however instead of being a product of plants, thecellulose was produced by millions of tiny bacteria from rice grown in Bioreactors LAB, providing an ecologicallyrefreshing alternative to cotton or silk. These fibers are very stiff and they have high strength, high porosity, and nanofiber structure. They canpotentially be produced in industrial quantities at greatly reduced cost and significantly less water content, with triple the yield by a new process. The cost of production of the fabric is very low: one kilo of rice canproduce up to 50 A4- sheets of fabric, thickness being around 0.3 mm. As an organic fabric, the impact on theenvironment is close to none. As far as durability is concerned, as long as it is preserved in a dry place, itcould last forever, just like linen found on mommies in their tombs.Development of biometric authentication technologies has progressed rapidly in the last few years. Personalauthentication devices based on unique patterns of fingerprints, the iris, or subcutaneous veins in thewrist have been commercialized for personal use, such as in the verification of user log-ins at computerterminals. Facial recognition, voice dynamics, and handwriting analysis are also being used in criminalinvestigation. All of these methods of verification match analog patterns. Among the various types of biometricinformation, the DNA-ID presented here should prove the most reliable for personal identification. DNAinformation is intrinsically digital and does not change either during a person’s life or after his or her death.Today there are commercial, technological solutions available to provide a means to identify the supplyof genuine products by using biometric DNA ink for authentication technology applied to the fabric.Because direct dyes can be absorbed, the DNA ink can easily be added while the cellulose is produced. The main purpose of mixing DNA ink with bio non-woven fabric is that, in the distant future, it could bepossible to retrieve biometric personal information in such fabrics to recreate DNA from deceased people, and even be cloned if such technology is available. It could also be used in order to identify an artist’s work:if each artist had his DNA information on his artwork, it could be then genuinely identified as authentic. Keywords: Thai rice, Biometric Authentication, Bacterial cellulose, Green philosophy, Nonwovenfabric, Nanofibers, DNA, DNA-ID ink, Recycle, Sustainable

The research entitled “Chinese Cultural Music “Gu Zheng” in Thailand” is a qualitative researchwhich aims are 1) to study the history and features of Gu Zheng, 2) to study the role of Gu Zheng in Thaisociety, 3) to study institutes that offer “Gu Zheng” lessons, and 4) to improve the educational process ofthe subjects, coded MUE 311 and FA 523 using the results of the research. The results found are asfollows:Gu Zheng is a Chinese musical instrument with a long history and various beliefs as to its origin.According to Chinese history, it is believed that Gu Zheng was created during the era of Emperor Qin ShiHuang by developing an ancient local musical instrument of the Qin region known as “Gu Qin”. However,Gu Zheng went missing due to several wars during the Emperor Qin Shi Huang era. Later whenpeace was restored, a number of arts reformations were initiated. Gu Zheng once again became a part ofChinese society. Gu Zheng has been constantly developed and spread, and now it is widely known inChina and abroad.Gu Zheng is a 21-string plucked zither. Each string is tied to a post at the head, and stretched acrossthe body to the other end where it is tied to another post. These posts are also used to tune the strings. Each string of Gu Zheng is supported by a bridge on the body. The length of a Gu Zheng is around 160cm, the width of the head and the end is around 33 and 29 cm respectively, and the height of the body ofGu Zheng is around 7 cm. The body of Gu Zheng is made of wood covered on both sides and the bottomby wooden slabs keeping the centre of the body hollow as a resonating box. A set of 3 holes are piercedon the bottom slab in the centre and either side to propagate the sound made. The head and the end of GuZheng is often crafted and decorated with pearls or jade stones.Gu Zheng has a role in Thai society, even though learning Gu Zheng is still not among the list ofmusic learners’ preferences. It is restricted to those who are really interested because of the limitedavailability of the instruments, few teachers and steep price of the instrument. Gu Zheng is not includedin the Thai education curriculum, so students only learn from private schools or private teachers. From areligious perspective, Gu Zheng is played in some rituals but it is not essential because it is difficult tofind the players and the instrument is hard to move. Therefore, çKhimé, is played instead. Gu Zheng hasbeen used as a bond in international relations between Thailand and China, especially since ProfessorDr. HRH Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol became interested in Gu Zheng. This has made the relationshipbetween Thailand and China more profound. On the economic front, a rise in people playing Gu Zhenghas seen Gu Zheng classes being taught in several musical institutes in response to society’s needs. There is also an increase in the Chinese musical instrument business, Chinese language and Chinesecalligraphy which has boosted the economy. Thailand and China has had a great relationship for a longtime. It is not difficult to see the harmony between the musical culture of Thailand and China. Gu ZhengmuofChina can play many Thai pieces, highlighting the cultural blend in Thailand. The students are competent, more practical and their experience of music has increased both in theory and practice. Today, Thaipeople are more interested in Gu Zheng. Private schools have started Gu Zheng courses and have hiredChinese teachers to teach the instrument. At the same time, Thai teachers are gaining knowledge of GuZheng and can compose music for the instrument. This shows the interweaving cultures of Thailand andChina. As a result of this cultural spread, the people are free to apply it to benefit their own culture andsociety. Keywords: Chinese traditional music, Gu Zheng, string instrument

This research addresses specific methods of vocal training for singing. The research focuses on ContemporaryCommercial Music (CCM), which is termed “popular music”.The research design this study uses is grounded theory research. The goal is to pragmatically applyexisting best practices to the development of vocal pedagogy in Thailand. Data for this research had beencollected from a number of sources, peer-reviewed journals, professional books, and online resources. The purpose of this research is to set out a framework for a CCM curriculum that takes into accountthe current training methods and the specific requirements of CCM as compared to classical vocal training. The study examines how singers are currently trained in Thailand and identifies the content requiredfor CCM vocal training to be effective. It also identifies other factors that the CCM vocal curriculum willneed to take into account.During the research, the researcher found that there is still a lot of confusion in existing curriculumsand training practices between classical singing and CCM methods and techniques. Many books onvocal pedagogy and teaching singing are not specific about whether they are presenting CCM or classicaltechniques, and they may not even discuss the difference.Result indicated that it would be appropriate to establish a goal in singing education to providecorrect information for the style the singer is learning. At the individual level, singing teachers need tolearn correct vocal pedagogy to make sure they are instructing their students correctly.Key words: vocal pedagogy, contemporary commercial music, singer in Thailand

The Research on Policy Direction on Music and Performing Arts Management in Thailand is a qualitativeresearch, aiming to study so as to determine policy direction on folk music and performancemanagement of the Department of Cultural Promotion. The results of this Research are as follows:1. According to the study of folk music and performance situation in Thailand, the music and localperformance in Thailand are different from those in a variety of regions, by having total 4 objectives;that is to say, 1) for funning and alleviating working tiredness, 2) for celebrating the achievement ofpersons or society, 3) for offering to Buddha in virtuous and meritorious activities, and 4) for conductingworship to the spirits and the angels or being used in rites and rituals. However, at present the importanceof music and local performance has tremendously reduced and has changed from the previous ones inthe form of showing forms, music instruments, dressings, and in particular change in roles and dutiestowards society as a result of change in society and economics. The survival of showings in society isdue to the things which are symbols and identities of a variety of local communities. In addition, thepublic sector continues to support various operations as appropriate; nonetheless, it is for the purpose ofconservation, rather than further development to add economic values.2. According to the proposal of policy direction on folk music and performance management of theDepartment of Cultural Promotion, the Researcher utilized concepts concerning management, theUNESCO Culture Production Cycle, and safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage guidelines underthe UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage as frameworks usedin study and determination of 8 issues used in preparing the proposal of the policy direction on folkmusic and performance management of the Department of Cultural Promotion, comprising 1. the policy/ management 2. Investigation through the conceptual theory of music teaching builds recognition of model and biography ofthe theory, or method, developers. This investigation is practiced with students of five music educators includingDalcroze, Orff, Kodály, Montessori, and Suzuki. Explorations of conceptual theory of music teaching are as followings. Dalcroze developed core music learning on Eurhythmic Method and Solfege Methods. Eurhythmic Method is toexperience music through body movements to build good rhythmic perception while Solfege Method is to intonefixed tonic (fixed-do) to apprehend pitches together with movements. Orff originally conducted Schulwerk that is likemusic teaching plan that integrates body movements (like Dalcrozeûs Method) with pentatonic-note rhythm, Orffûsxylophone, rhythmic ostinato and hand signs to music teaching. Kodály principally initiated musical symbols beforelearning of common music notations. Examples of musical symbols include learning of object images or note stemwithout note head as prior lesson to the common notation symbols; utilizing hand signals; applying pentatonic-styledfolk songs and intoning of moving ùdoû from any keys (movable do). Montessori invented three major concepts onmusical teaching. Firstly, imitation, students can copy their teacher as a sample prototype. Next, reorganization, students need to recognize and identify differences of tones. Lastly, intonation, students can correctly intone as thefinal step to understanding and practicing. Suzuki introduced music learning as learning of mother tongue language. The essential of the method is to organize suitable learning ambiences and to arrange everyday practices as a regularactivity. The concept is explained that good music practice cannot be acquired from memorizing or text learning. However, it is developed by good and appropriate practice as a part of life or compared as mother tongue languagethat is utilized every day.Keyword: Dalcroze; Orff; Kodály; Montessori; Suzuki

It is the harmoniously intermingling procedure between learning and knowledge seeking of thepeople in the communities. The learning pass Art and culture as The Art Education of communities. It often arisesunder the social conditions and the community cultures. The relationshipsof the people in a community caused the integrative learning and the knowledge contents where intellects wereaccumulated in conformity with the living ways. The Art wisdom have reflected pass art and craft of communities. After the western-style modernized development of the Thai society with the focus on the economic improvementupon the industrial advancement within the measurement of the new technology and physical build-up, ART EducationThe learning of the communities have much changed to emphasize the creation of specialized experts in replyto the growing urban communities and industrial expansion. That has made the traditional cultural-based ways oflearning and the local intellectuality dated and even been abandoned.Likewise, the art Education learning has been influenced by the international awareness and thus has alteredits educational system in Thailand. The contents of the courses and the learning management of the art education inthe past decades have reflected the gradual portion-centric learning and focused on building the specialized expertsand technical skills rather than recognizing the artistic and local intuitive values and dimensions. Despite the attemptsto push the culturally and natively scholarly elements into the art educational programs, the severity of the capitalismand globalization currents have too high power to resist. That issue has raised a question in Thailand as to how to addthe cultural yet globalizational dimensions into the art educational process so as to sustain the gentility and theeggheads of the Thai society amid the rapidly-changing internationally-styled developments.Keyword: Learning; Art education

Currently, the changing values due to changing era had an effect on mixing between forms of performances from outer cultures and performances of original culture. Pleng Korat performance had developed and changed into several forms. Originally, there was no music played along and then the identity of language, dialect, and singing were brought to entertainment business. These can mislead so it was confusing to determine whether which was or which was not Pleang Korat, or the changing can be too far that preservation, inheriting, promoting can be forgotten and the root of culture can be ignored. Then, the original cultural intellectual heritage can gradually be vanished. This article so aimed to present the writer’s perspective gained from working to promote knowledge and understanding in the identity and changes of Pleng Korat’s performance. Keywords : Korat Song ; Pleng Korat performance

Evaluation of student’s design works in product design course should rely a solid standard that relate to subject’s purpose and content of the course. To do so, the scoring system and framing are very important for evaluator. This research studies rubric score system and develop guideline for evaluator to follow and implement rubric score that is clearly adequate with same standard. This research investigates and collect actual data from evaluation of student’s work. During evaluation, student’s works are evaluated using evaluated factors, dimension, and quality levels. The data shows that new method gives standardized result comparing to current method. From the experimental, statistically data analysis indicates that score from each evaluator is not significantly different from each other. The methodology from the research is developed in the form of guideline that can develop scoring system in product design course. It results in non-significantly different scoring from evaluators due to the standardization.

Apart from cultivating the skills for precise fingers placement on the left hand needed to produce the correct intonation and agility, players must also learn the mechanics of the bow arm and how it worked. These techniques allow the player to produce mature characteristic tones, control different sound dynamics, manage sound quality and sound intensity level crucial to string music performance. They are the means to create emotional and expressive performance with virtuosity that is truthful to the music composer’s intentions. All string players where a bow is used, from Violin, Viola, Cello to Double Bass musicians, must perfect the bowing techniques. They must master the three key elements which are speed, weight and point of contact to the strings. These methods give the player ability to control tone quality, rhythm, dynamics and articulation in order to perfectly deliver insightful performances to the audience with due reverence to the composer. Abstract At present, the majority of music activities in Thailand prefer to compose and perform in the style resembles popular western music more than Thai traditional music. The reason for that is because Thai traditional music in general is derived from the past generation of Thai people and the music has been passed on to the new generation of Thai people. Therefore, I had been trying to create and integrate contemporary music with traditional music. I have simultaneously incorporating techniques such as, intonation, improvisation, and expression of Thai traditions to high degree with western chord progression and the other musical style of western music, in order to add a new layer to modern Thai music to make it more appealing to modern listeners. I have chosen violin and piano as instruments by having violin played in the style of Thai music and having piano played on the classical and jazz chord progression. The results are astonishing and these instruments complement each other perfectly in contemporary music on the melody of Prince Narisara Nuvadtivongs. The name of the classical Thai melody has changed to Khamen Sai Yoke. It was originally called Khamen Klomlook in the past. I had applied and created a new concept which is a combination of integrating Thai and western music to play in the same performance. I also have arranged all indications of signs and dynamic including musical terms such as, bowing and fingering during my arrangement to appropriate to all dementions in contemporary and western music nowadays.
